LES MURAILLES refers to the part of the estates of Chateau de Riquewihr, owned by DOPFF & IRION and planted with Riesling. The close proximity of the walls explains the wine’s name. Its fruity aromas become discrete over time, thereby making way for the terroir’s typical characteristics: notes of honey, licorice and coffee. Strong and complex, it benefits from good ageing qualities thanks to its precious acidity. This wine goes perfectly well with shellfish, urchin and white truffle.
LES MAQUISARDS refers to the part of the estates of Chateau de Riquewihr planted with Pinot Gris. This name was attributed by René Dopff, the founder of the House in homage to his war resistance companions. Pinot Gris was his favorite grape variety. Its great well-balanced and concentrated freshness has produced a wine without heaviness, at once elegant and perfectly structured. Nervous and fresh, this Pinot Gris goes perfectly well with noble fish, lobster or sea scallops.
LES SORCIERES refers to the part of the estates of Chateau de Riquewihr planted with Gewurztraminer. According to a local legend, this was a place where witches and women of ill-repute used to be burnt. This very silky wine expresses a surprising personality, strongly marked by its terroir. It already reveals a highly promising potential for ageing. Try this wine with exotic cuisine mixed with mild or hot spices such as curry – you’ll be won over!
LES AMANDIERS refers to the part of the estates of Chateau de Riquewihr planted with Muscat. Almond trees in the middle of the vineyard, confirm that this location benefits from a Mediterranean flora. It is elegant, refined and marked by fruit and characterized by plenty of length and pleasant aromas. This is a great aperitif wine. It goes well with savories, smoked salmon, grilled or raw fish and is pleasant with asparagus served with a hollandaise, mousseline or creamy sauce.
